Our Father Our Prayer of Hope

When asked by his disciples to teach them to pray, Jesus gave them the Lord's Prayer. It is the most perfect of all prayers and contains within it the heart of the Gospel. But what does it mean?

Our Father: Our Prayer of Hope answers that question by offering a personal retreat on how to pray the Lord's Prayer, with abundant insights drawn from scriptural readings, the celebration of the Eucharist, the witness of the saints, the Church's magisterium, and daily Christian life. The Our Father is our prayer of hope. In the midst of our struggles and sufferings, we can pattern our whole life on the prayer that Jesus gave us.

Each chapter begins with beautiful art and a Scripture passage. In retreat style, it continues with an essay focused on one part of the Lord's Prayer. The chapter concludes with the reader praying the prayer taught by the Lord in his school of holiness.

Pope Francis named 2025 a Jubilee Year with the theme "Pilgrims of Hope," and he asks that the prayer Jesus taught us be "the life program of each of his disciples." Our Father: Our Prayer of Hope will fill our prayer with hope during this jubilee and beyond.
