Joan of Arc was a peasant girl who was ordered by the Saints in prayer to save France from the British invaders. She presented herself to the prince, who gave her an army. She drove back the English in battle after battle. She was eventually betrayed and brought to England where she was condemned for heresy by English authorities. She was burned at the stake in 1431. Her final request was that priest to hold a crucifix before her and pray loudly so that she could hear it as she died. She was canonized in 1920 by Pope Pius II, and her feast day is May 30th. Her courage came from her faith in Jesus and love and zeal for the Father's will.
